Given the accelerated growth of users of the ChatGPT tool, and its high potential for being used irresponsibly and dishonestly among higher education students, the present work consisted of designing a teacher training course on the use of ChatGPT in higher education, based on the results of an opinion survey on the use of ChatGPT in higher education, applied to all teachers of the Department of Systems and Computing of the Instituto Tecnológico de Tláhuac.
The survey results have a Cronbach's Alpha value of .913, which shows that the answers have a high reliability.
The descriptive statistical analysis of the survey responses showed that the aspect about the use of ChatGPT in higher education with which the teachers surveyed agreed the most was the concern about the irresponsible use that students can make of ChatGPT for their learning process with a mean of 5.19 points in items with a 7-grade Likert scale. It also showed that 44% of the respondents had not used ChatGPT and through a chi-square test of independence, a p-value of .033 was obtained, indicating that the level of prior knowledge about ChatGPT has a statistically significant relationship with the age range of the teachers surveyed, which is a relationship that is worth studying more extensively among higher education teachers.
Based on the above, the course designed is an introduction to the use of ChatGPT and a training with emphasis on preventing the irresponsible use of this technology, which will help mitigate the problem that initially motivated the present research work.
