Evaluation of NOM-037: A descriptive case study at a private university

Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to identify the successful practices and challenges that arise when applying this regulation, and how it impacts on the experience and well-being of the teachers involved. The research approach was quantitative and exploratory, based on surveys applied to ten postgraduate teachers who teach in telework mode. A checklist based on NOM-037 guidelines was used, evaluating ergonomic aspects, lighting, ventilation, connectivity, among others. The data were processed using SPSS software to analyze the responses and measure the reliability of the items evaluated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.897). The study revealed that the implementation of NOM-037 in this institution presents positive results, with a majority of teachers satisfied with the telework conditions and the training received. However, areas for improvement were identified in aspects such as the quality of the furniture and environmental noise, which affect the visual and postural health of teachers. In general terms, the application of the standard has improved health and safety in teleworking, but adjustments to the infrastructure are required to optimize working conditions and prevent long-term health problems.
